ShirazShiraz is Australia’s most popular red wine and one which, by universal acclaim, the country excels at producing. The Shiraz style is usually quite bold, however the character of the wine will reflect the region in which it is produced. While South Australian regions such as Barossa dominate Australian Shiraz production, regions such as the Yarra Valley have developed a good reputation for subtler, more silky interpretations of the style, reflecting the milder, cooler climate. Tasting NotesDeep ruby red color. Lifted bouquet of black cherry and red plum accented by sweet cigar leaf aromas. Medium bodied palate highlighted by black fruit and oak spices; drying chalky tannins to finish.
Winemaker’s NotesHandpicked in mid April and fermented as whole berries with a small portion of whole bunch with indigenous yeasts. Racked to new (35%) and older French hogsheads then racked to tank and bottled unfined and unfiltered in mid September 2008.
