‘Bee Hive’ Chardonnay

Chardonnay is one of the world most popular white wine styles and is grown in nearly all wine-producing countries.

The Yarra Valley has an excellent reputation for Chardonnay and is considered globally as a premium-quality region for this style.

The Chardonnay grape itself is quite neutral in taste, and the wine derives its flavours from terroir (the soil in which it is grown) and the wooden barrels (usually oak) in which it matures.

Tasting Notes

A lightly wooded Chardonnay with a crisp bouquet showing white peach, melon and oatmeal aromas. Palate is light to medium bodied; subtle oak nuances complementing a clean citrus backbone. Refined drinking.

Winemaker’s Notes

Handpicked in mid March and then given a 4 day cold soak, then fermented as whole berries with indigenous yeasts, pressed and racked to new (30%) and older French hogsheads. Racked to tank and bottled unfined and unfiltered in mid September 2010.
